Pebble is known for its inexpensive smartwatches with e-paper display and light Pebble OS. The two generation of watches (Pebble and Pebble Steel) are not particularly popular among athletes due to the lack of built-in GPS but may be this year Pebble will show something new? The sport apps in Pebble OS use data received from a connected phone (iOS, Android) for distance, speed and range information.
Pebble’s focus so far has been on simple, long-lasting smartwatches that undercut the competition. However its biggest rivals (Google’s Android Wear – Motorola, Samsung, LG, Sony and ASUS) are increasingly betting on more expensive models with touchscreens, health sensors and other special tricks.
